Buy Gold & Silver

Where people buy metals.

There is no single best place to buy. The right source depends on price, safety, verification, and how much risk you are willing to manage.

Gold and silver buying options

01

Local and personal sellers

Examples include eBay, Facebook Marketplace, local classifieds, estate sales, and private sellers. This is where buyers can sometimes find the best deals, especially when someone wants a fast sale.

The tradeoff is risk. You need to verify weight, purity, authenticity, seller reputation, payment safety, and whether the item is actually worth what is being claimed. Meet safely, avoid pressure, and do not buy anything you cannot verify.

02

Bullion dealers and online shops

Examples include established bullion dealers such as APMEX, JM Bullion, and SD Bullion. These shops are built for official transactions, clear product listings, insured shipping, and a more standardized buying process.

The tradeoff is price. You are usually paying a premium over spot, plus possible payment, shipping, or spread costs. Gold or silver may need to rise before you are even back to break-even on the purchase.

03

Jewelry stores and retail outlets

Retail jewelry can be beautiful, but it is often priced for design, brand, labor, store overhead, and margin. In some cases, retail jewelry can be many times the scrap value of the metal itself.

Be very careful if your goal is metal investment. A ring, chain, or bracelet can sell for 10 to 20 times scrap value depending on the retailer and item. Use the calculator first so you know the melt value before treating jewelry like bullion.
